About Us

Our Story

Longtime friends Beau and Christopher started Living River Farms with the goal to invest in employees through their shared enjoyment of farming. They believe in giving opportunities to people as much as they care about producing great-tasting chicken and beef. Both are at the heart of Living River Farms. Without high-quality, pasture-raised chicken and beef there is no investing in employees; and without investing in employees, there is no... well you get the idea. In short, Beau and Christopher own Living River Farms to better the lives of their employees, the local food supply, the land they farm, and their community.

Beau grew up on a cattle ranch in Montana and has been raising poultry since he was four, while Christopher grew up working on a waterfowl farm in Oregon. The two became friends when Beau moved to Oregon for college and worked on the same farm as Christopher. Over time, and with many wheelbarrows full of manure, they decided they wanted to start a business together. Beau and Christopher started out in 2013 with a plan to open a farm-to-table restaurant.

However, when they discovered there was nowhere in Montana to have their chickens processed, they began to explore what it would take to open a poultry processing facility and produce pasture-raised chickens...and 3 years later after working with another farm, they were processing their first chickens in a state licensed facility in Hamilton, MT. Then in 2020, they were able to build a state-licensed facility of their own on their farm in Stevensville.

Beau and Christopher always knew they wanted to raise their chickens on pasture in a clean and healthy environment. They see it as a way to provide their animals with the best life and to offer their customers a healthy, delicious, and sustainably raised product. They are grateful to be able to farm for a living and to work with their employees; what they do brings them great joy. They are thankful to all their customers for making it possible!
